i love seeing. and it seems to me that there's something more to 'seeing' than just looking. it's not an analytical thing either. it's an active, participatory thing; involved; probably closer to being than doing. which may be why photography really works for me; the pause, a shift in perspective, the shutter releases and my 'seeing' is now a creation. my camera is an instrument, an extension of my seeing.

so what I create is personal to me and a source of great joy and satisfaction to my soul. every shot is important in that it reflects who i am as a photographer, as an artist. photography IS rewarding to the photographer. to me. that's a good thing because it means you get my best. it means i'm personally invested in you and your story.

styles change. appetites for image presentation change. times change and there's always one more angle to shoot; one more piece of cool tech to incorporate. so i don't think i'll probably ever 'arrive.' i like it that way. i don't want to be comfortable... ever. I want to keep pushing the creative envelope; to keep keep seeing differently and more intimately.

i do love the current photographic trend. doors have opened to the post-modern/retro/vintage dynamic. desaturated, high contrast, high structure images with a few discordant color pops. it's a another palette we get to play with.

on a shoot and in post-production i find myself looking for more than just the single wow shot and more with series of images that reflect the emotion of my subject in their context.

the end result is a story- more than a subject, more than a setting. it's 'seeing' transposed into a song of images that reveals you in the midst of your journey.

and this is my song to you - thank you for making room for me to see.
